Several law enforcement agencies were searching for a burglary suspect in the Henderson area. A post from the Baxter County Sheriff's Facebook says 35-year-old Travis Wayde Smith, whose last known address was Marianna, is wanted in connection with burglaries in Baxter and Fulton Counties, and he also has an outstanding warrant in Oklahoma.
Fulton County Sheriff Albert Roork is reported to have spotted Smith at 3:20 Sunday afternoon when driving in his personal vehicle on Highway 62 near Lake Norfork. Sheriff Roork attempted to detain the suspect, but he fled on foot. Baxter County deputies, the canine tracking team of the Arkansas Department of Correction's North Central Unit and other personnel responed to the area to assist. The suspect was not found, and the search was concluded around 8:30 Sunday night, but deputies remained in the general area.
Smith was last seen wearing blue jeans, a red t-shirt and a ball cap. Anyone with information on Smith's whereabouts is asked to contact the Baxter County Sheriff's Office at 870-425-7000.
