Derrick Michael Vostatek of Mountain Home was given 12 months in one of the Community Corrections Center in the state and 10 years probation following his guilty plea on charges including commercial burglary, theft of property and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The 22-year-old’s plea and sentencing came during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

According to court records, Mountain home Police received a report on May 8th last year concerning a burglary at Summit Rentals in Mountain Home. It was estimated that more than $10,000 in property had been stolen from the business.

Surveillance video showed at least three individuals present during the break-in.

The investigation developed Vostatek, 22-year-old Brian Calvert and 33-year-old Robert Martinell as suspects. When authorities initially questioned Vostatek, he admitted that the trio had planned the break-in while at a party together.

According to court records, the stolen property was allegedly traded for drugs.

Calvert and Martinell are both currently serving prison time for their involvement. Martinell is an inmate at the East Arkansas Regional Unit at Brickeys, and Calvert is in a Department of Correction work release center in Mississippi County.

Vostatek was also ordered to pay $11,200 in restitution.

In addition to the charges related to the thefts, drug-related and shoplifting charges had also been filed against Vostatek. He was charged with shoplifting from Wal Mart in March of last year.

When a Mountain Home police officer arrived in response to the complaint, Vostatek was being detained in the loss prevention office at the store. The officer escorted Vostatek out of the store and questioned him about the potential for any other illegal items being in the vehicle he drove to Wal Mart.

Vostatek granted permission for the vehicle to be searched and a syringe along with a clear plastic bag containing a crystalline substance that Vostatek identified as methamphetamine were found.
