Credit: Tim FieldingThis year’s Essence Festival is introducing something new for fans of the annual event. For the first time ever, women will be celebrated during a special night of performances featuring an all-female lineup, called “My Path to Strength.”
Chaka Khan is among the singers who will perform on the main stage at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, along with Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Monica, Jazmine Sullivan and Ari Lennox, while Jhené Aiko, Lalah Hathaway, Lizzo, Michel’le, Remy Ma, Teyana Taylor and The Jones Girls featuring Shirley Jones will take the stage in the “super lounge” area of the venue.
Among the many other artists who will be performing at the 2017 Essence Festival are Diana Ross, John Legend, Solange, India.Arie and Master P. The fest runs from June 29 to July 2. Tickets are on sale now.
