Several area basketball teams were in district play Tuesday in Missouri.
The Bakersfield boys’ season ended as they hosted the semifinals of the Class 1, District 4 Tournament. The Lions fell to Dora 64-52. Bakersfield’s final record is 9-18. The Falcons improved to 12-13, and they’ll play for the district title Friday against the number one seed from Bradleyville.
Gainesville’s girls are one win away from a third-consecutive district championship. The top-seeded Lady Bulldogs defeated Plato 54-37 in the semifinals of the Class 2, District 4 Tournament at Sparta. Gainesville is now 27-1 on the year, and their opponent on Friday will be Hartville.
Two area boys’ teams were eliminated from the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Fair Grove.
Hollister was one and done as they lost to Clever 39-27. The Tigers’ year comes to an end at 8-18.
Forsyth was edged out by Strafford 65-63. The Panthers wrap up the season with a mark of 13-12.
The Ava boys were bounced from the Class 3, District 10 Tournament in Cabool. The Bears finish the year at 8-18.
