Court: No neglect cases for judge whose son died in hot car

(AP) – The Arkansas Supreme Court says a judge whose son died
in a hot car in 2015 can return to the bench but won't be allowed to take up any
cases involving child neglect.
Garland County Circuit Judge Wade Naramore was acquitted on a negligent
homicide charge last summer. His son Thomas died in July 2015; the judge said he
forgot to take the 18-month-old child to a daycare center near the courthouse.
The court had suspended Naramore from his $160,000-a-year job with pay, and
Naramore asked this week to return to the post.
Justices said Thursday the suspension would be lifted after the Hot
Springs-based court redistributes cases in such a way "that Naramore will not be
assigned dependency-neglect cases." The plan is due next week.
