A concerned local listener of KTLO, Classic Hits 101.7 and The Boot called the station Friday to warn area residents of the newest phone scam circulating. He says he received a call from a Jennifer White with Multi-State Recovery, with a phone number of 877-382-9051 extension 358, saying his bank account had a major overdraft. The caller warned of a court date, possible wage garnishments and other potential penalties. He called his bank to verify the information was incorrect.
The caller stated if he paid a fee he could settle the case without additional cost.
In a recent story by KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News local authorities say its best to not answer unidentified phone numbers, research information and to be suspicious when callers ask for money.
