
State tournaments begin this week in Arkansas and Missouri, and a total of 14 area teams will be competing.
Mountain Home’s girls will be at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy for the Class 6A State Tournament as they will be matched up with Benton on Thursday. The Lady Bombers are currently 18-12 after finishing third in the 6A-East Conference Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Panthers are the sixth-seeded team from the West. Thursday’s game is scheduled for one p.m.
Seven local teams will be in Mount Ida for the Class 1A State Tournament. In boys’ action, Omaha faces Mulberry Monday morning at 11:30, Izard County takes the court Tuesday night at 8:30 against the winner of Monday’s game between Concord and Scranton, and Jasper meets Bradley Thursday at 5:30. On the girls’ bracket, Jasper takes on either Maynard or Wonderview Tuesday at 4:00, Norfork plays either Concord or Scranton Tuesday at 7:00, Izard County will be paired with Mount Vernon-Enola Wednesday at 4:00, and Omaha meets Acorn Thursday at 7:00.
Three area teams will take part in the Class 3A State Tournament Thursday at Bald Knob. In the girls’ games, Valley Springs faces Marianna at 1:00, and Mountain View plays the host Lady Bulldogs at 4:00. Marshall’s boys take on Tuckerman at 5:30.
Both of Harrison’s teams will play their first games in the Class 5A State Tournament Wednesday in Magnolia. The Lady Goblins tip off at 1:00 against Paragould, and the Harrison boys play Greene County Tech at 5:30.
The Gainesville girls will start action in the Class 2 State Tournament on Wednesday. The Lady Bulldogs’ first game will be at 7:45 in Mountain Grove as their sectional opponent will be Neelyville.
