Baxter County and City of Mtn. Home sales tax numbers continue upswing

It appears retailers in Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home had a good Christmas Shopping season, as reflected in the recently released sales tax numbers from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. The February numbers, which reflects sales tax collected in December, shows a 6.7 percent increase compared to a year ago, according to Baxter County Treasurer Janey Mize.

Mountain Home Mayor Joe Dillard says the city also saw an increase in sales tax revenue.

The county sales tax is divided among the county and the eight municipalities, with Mountain Home leading the way with $190,361, Gassville collected $31,778, while Cotter picked up $14,834,   Lakeview took in $11,332, Norfork received $7,814, Salesville collected $6,882 the City of Briarcliff netted $3,609 and Big Flat received $1,590.
