Credit: Mark OwensThe Moody Blues recently announced plans for a North American summer tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of the band’s symphonic-rock masterpiece, Days of Future Passed, and now the group has revealed that the trek will help raise money for a good cause. The Moodies will be donating one dollar from every concert ticket sold to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which aids musicians and music-industry workers and their family members who need financial assistance because of injury, illness or disability.
“We are pleased to be associated with Sweet Relief, and are very much looking forward to this tour,” says Moody Blues singer/guitarist Justin Hayward. “It will be a joy to return to this music — live, after all these years.”
Adds Sweet Relief Musicians Fund president Bill Bennett, “Sweet Relief is enormously grateful to the Moody Blues for this incredibly generous donation, and the funds raised will help hundreds of desperate musicians and music industry workers in critical need.”
The “Days of Future Passed — 50th Anniversary” tour kicks off June 3 in Rancho Mirage, California, and runs through a July 23 show in Atlanta. Each concert on the trek will begin with The Moody Blues playing a set of their greatest hits, followed by a full performance of Days of Future Passed, which includes the group’s classic tunes “Nights in White Satin” and “Tuesday Afternoon.”
