Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery is notifying the public of a level 3 registered sex offender who has moved with the county. The sheriff says 59 year old Jimmie Lee Martin has moved from 4215 State Highway 176 in Lakeview to 97 State Highway 178 in Midway.
According to the sheriff, Martin was convicted of sexual assault in the second degree in 2004 for the offense of sexual contact with a then seven year old female.
Jimmie Lee Martin is not wanted by law enforcement at this time, says Montgomery, and this notification is not intended to increase fear but rather it is his belief that an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders and such abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse, he says, could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
