Eagle Rock EntertainmentThe Magpie Salute, the new group featuring guitarist Rich Robinson and several other former members of The Black Crowes, will release a self-titled debut album on June 9.
The 10-track record features nine songs that were captured live in front of an audience in Woodstock, New York, and one new original studio recording called “Omission.” The album was produced by Robinson, who co-wrote “Omission” with The Magpie Salute’s lead singer, John Hogg.
The live tracks include renditions of The Black Crowes’ “What Is Home” and “Wiser Time,” as well as covers of Delaney and Bonnie‘s “Comin’ Home,” War‘s “War Drums,” Pink Floyd‘s “Fearless,” The Faces‘ “Glad and Sorry,” Bob Marley‘s “Time Will Tell” and more.
The album also features the last recorded work by founding Magpie Salute and ex-Black Crowes keyboardist Eddie Harsch, who died in November 2016 at the age of 59.
In advance of The Magpie Salute‘s release, “Omission” will be issued as the album’s lead single in May. In addition, a limited-edition 10-inch vinyl single featuring “Comin’ Home” and “Glad and Sorry” will be released on April 22 in conjunction with the 2017 Record Store Day campaign.
As previously reported, The Magpie Salute will launch its first U.S. tour on July 26 in Indianapolis.
