Gassville City Council approves water rates

The Gassville City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening, with all alderman present. Mayor Jeff Braim says water rates have been established. In thirty days the rates will be $15.48 per 2,000 gallons as a minimum. Each additional 1,000 gallons used will have a charge of $7.74.

The Council also went through a second reading of an ordinance establishing water and sewer connecting fees.

New business included a discussion of the time frame for the wastewater expansion project. It will be ready for bid in early 2018, with construction concluding in 2020.

Braim says during construction of South Street the road is going to be open trenched in several areas for utilities. Through traffic will not be possible from 8:00 in the morning till 4:30 or 5:00 in the evening. Local residents in the area will still have access to their homes.The final update Braim presented is a partnership between Arvest Bank and the Foodbank of North Central Arkansas for the “Feed the Pack” plan for Friday, May 5th. Locations in Gassville will include Sunfest Market and at the Exxon intersection.

After the Mayor’s update the council broke into a joint session with the Fireman’s Pension Relief Board to discuss further revenues needed to aid their pension plan. Braim plans to bring specific numbers to the board, based on insurance turnback funds, in July.
