ASU Mountain Home to hold annual Insectival and Beyond program

The 17th annual Insectival and Beyond event is scheduled for Friday morning from 9:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon at the Arkansas State University campus in Mountain Home. Over 750 students from local elementary schools are expected to participate in the event which embraces interactive science to entice school children to learn more about insects, and the science surrounding their world.Activities and events range from bug races to a Bug Bowl and a quiz game that will test your knowledge of bugs. There will also be stations for face painting, crafts and edible worms.

Dr. Rebecca Baird is co-director for Insectival along with Dr. Eddie Dry, the creator of the event. She says new activities this year include a physics exercise with stacking eggs and many other new activities for the students to explore.

Baird says every year ASUMH students from the Fran Coulter Honors Program and Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society contribute ideas for activities.

The event is open to the public and admission is free. In the event of inclement weather, activities will move into The Sheid on the ASUMH campus.
