Founding Foreigner guitarist/songwriter Mick Jones tells ABC Radio that he’s glad some fans who normally couldn’t afford to go to concerts will be able to attend the shows.
“Prices are going up all the time on everything and it’s good to give ’em a break,” says Jones. “It’s a nice feeling. I feel that it’s fair, and the people are benefiting from it.”
Foreigner’s current lead singer, Kelly Hansen, agrees.
“If you have trouble getting to a show, this is a really great way for you to get there,” the frontman notes. “And we’re so happy that [Live Nation is] willing to do that,” noting that the company is making “a million tickets” available at the discounted price.
Both Foreigner and Cheap Trick are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and Jones tells ABC Radio that the two bands also hit the road together at the start of their careers.
“We took Cheap Trick with us on [our first headlining] tour, and I remember the feeling of first headline tour. And that was exactly 40 years ago,” he reveals. “So, you know, it’s full circle.”
Other tours offering $20 tickets to select dates include Boston with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Chicago and The Doobie Brothers, Dead & Company, Deep Purple and Alice Cooper with The Edgar Winter Band, Def Leppard with Poison and Tesla, Earth, Wind & Fire and Chic, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr., Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey, Queen + Adam Lambert, Rod Stewart with Cyndi Lauper, and Styx and REO Speedwagon with ex-Eagles guitarist Don Felder.
