Nearly 400 Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation (BRHF) donors and guests gathered at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home last week. The 16th annual BRHF Donor Banquet was held Friday at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center to show appreciation to the donors and announce what’s to come at Baxter Regional Medical Center (BRMC).

Nearly halfway through the ceremony, BRHF Major Gifts Officer Justin Woods kicked off a one-million-dollar campaign to renovate the BRMC Acute Inpatient Rehab Unit. The unit’s purpose is to help patients build strength, increase flexibility, improve mobility and regain independence.

In addition, BRHF Planned Giving Officer Estella Tullgren announced Donna Cordonnier made a six-figure endowment gift to the Peitz Cancer Support House. Tullgren also stated the donation was matched by BRHF Board of Directors Investment Chair Peter Peitz.

At the beginning of the ceremony, several recognitions for 2016 were presented by BRMC Vice President of Business Development and BRHF Executive Director Barney Larry. Clark Fletcher and Lori Gregory were among those recognized as they are retiring BRHF board members.

A video was shown highlighting “Rock Steady Boxing Mountain Home.” The exercise program is available through the Mruk Family Education Center on Aging for Parkinson’s Disease patients, and BRMC says it’s proving to slow the progression of the disease. Following the video, the fighters took the stage to a standing ovation.

Several other videos were shown throughout the night. The first featured BRMC’s four Community Health Education and Support Houses. BRMC President and Chief Executive Officer Ron Peterson later shared a video on the philanthropic impact donations to the foundation have made to the hospital. Another video featured Acute Inpatient Rehab Registered Nurse Tana Seely as she shared her personal experience as a recipient of the Anderson Downes Nursing Scholarship.

The evening wrapped up with Baxter County Judge Mickey Pendergrass. He shared the impact BRMC had on his personal life following quadruple-bypass surgery.
