Governor Asa Hutchinson completes area coding tour

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson made his rounds to three area schools Tuesday as part of his Spring 2017 Coding Tour to promote computer science and the impact it can have on a student’s future. Hutchinson says this is his fourth computer science tour in which he hopes to encourage students to sign up for computer science classes for the 2017/2018 school year.During his campaign for Governor, Hutchinson says he was inspired to promote computer science from a member of his family.

Hutchinson says the initiative has far exceeded his expectations in terms of the positive response from students and the positive impact on the economy with technology companies who seek future employees with computer talent.

Arkansas is the first state to mandate computer science classes to be taught in every school and Hutchinson hopes the state will see a return on the investment.
