Superintendent of Mountain Home Public Schools Dr. Jake Long says, in a recent edition of Local Matters on KTLO FM, trends in enrollment numbers for the student population of the Mountain Home School District appear to be leveling off. There is a slight decline in the 2016/2017 school year student population with approximately 3,800 students enrolled, lower than the norm in the past five to ten years.

Long says the population should level off over the next five years with a predicted student population between 3,700 and 3,800.

Long says he’s satisfied with those numbers, however the school district does have room for growth. There are enough facilities to handle any type of immediate, foreseeable student population increase.

According to Long, there are approximately 295 certified professionals, around 30 administrators and supervisors, both classified and certified, and approximately 65 support staff cover the school district.
