A few area high school baseball teams were in district play Monday.
Bakersfield advanced to the title game of the Class 1, District 5 Tournament at Mountain Grove. The Lions defeated Koshkonong by a final of 16-7. Bakersfield improves to 4-7 on the season.
Dora will be the Lions’ opponent for the championship. The top-seeded Falcons beat up on Bradleyville 18-2. Dora is now 10-5 on the year.
Gainesville was eliminated from the Class 2, District 10 Tournament at Mansfield. The Bulldogs fell to the host and top-seeded Lions 19-1. Gainesville’s season comes to an end at 9-13.
Forsyth advanced to the semifinals of the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Clever. The Panthers edged out the host Blue Jays 5-4. Forsyth’s record stands at 16-8.
Ava came away with a victory as they hosted the semifinals of the Class 3, District 10 Tournament. The Bears squeaked by Licking 5-4. Ava improves to 19-5 on the season.
Branson’s year ended in the semifinals of the Class 5, District 11 Tournament at Nixa. The Pirates lost to top-seeded Springfield Kickapoo 10-0. Branson’s final record for 2017 is 14-11.
