MH School Board announces award winners

The Mountain Home School Board presented two awards in Thursday night’s school board meeting.Superintendent of Mountain Home Public Schools Dr. Jake Long presented the Teacher of the Year Award to sixth grade Pinkston math teacher Kirby Childress and the Richard Padget Award to retiring custodian Marv Kunz. Kunz has served 14 years in the district. Childress is finishing his 13th year at Pinkston.All items on the meeting’s agenda needing approval were given the green light.

Nearly $19,000 in Title VI available funds will be used for security cameras. Title I funds will be allocated for the purchase of $25,600 worth of Chromebooks and just over $22,000 of National School Lunch Act funds will be dispersed to allow for the digital display of Apple devices.

Other approved items on the meeting’s agenda include revisions to policies and procedures for the student and school board policy manual handbook and the removal of tile in the halls of the Mountain Home Kindergarten, which contains asbestos materials.

The board also approved new turf for Bomber Stadium, then adjourned for a personnel executive session.

A number of changes will take place regarding personnel across the district. The board accepted resignations for Annette Kasinger, Grant Greenhaw, Ronnie Blevins and Amber Teegarden and accepted a transfer for Stephanie Dement.
