Bailey to run for circuit judgeship

A local attorney announced his candidacy for public office on Monday. Andrew Bailey will seek the position of Arkansas 14th Judicial Circuit Judge, Division 1.

Bailey is a certified attorney ad litem currently charged with representing their best interests of minor children in domestic relations and probate matters. Division 1 of the 14th Judicial Circuit is assigned all child support cases and a majority of the domestic relations cases filed in Baxter, Marion, Boone and Newton Counties.

Bailey has practiced law in Mountain Home for 11 years, and during the last ten, has also served as a deputy public defender. He was raised in Baxter County and graduated from Cotter High School. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Bailey went through an internship with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, and later earned a law degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Bailey opened his Mountain Home law office in 2006 and has practiced at the local, state and federal levels. He is a past president of the Baxter County Bar Association and has been named the Legal Aid of Arkansas Pro Bono Attorney of the Year twice. In 2015, Governor Asa Hutchinson appointed Bailey as a Special Justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court. He also serves as a board member of Hospice of the Ozarks and is a former board member of the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas.
