The 18th annual Red White and Blue Festival kicks off Thursday afternoon on the campus of Arkansas State University Mountain Home with a barbecue eating contest and a free concert featuring recording artist Aaron Tippin.
The Mountain Home Pilots Holy Smokes BBQ Rib Eating Contest gets underway at 3:30. Check in for the contest is Thursday morning from 7 until 9. Entry fee is $50. The first place award is $350, with $200 going to the second place finisher, and $100 for third place. Judging is set for Thursday evening at 5. For further information, you may call 870-405-2312.
Capping off the first day of the festival is the Aaron Tippin free concert with special guests, The Steel Woods and Chris Bandi.
The festival continues on Friday and Saturday with a full slate of activities, culminating with what organizers are describing as the “biggest fireworks display in the state of Arkansas.” While the fireworks may be seen from almost anywhere in Mountain Home, the best view will be from the grounds at ASU Mountain Home. The fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 Saturday evening.
