Boating safety education course set for Saturday at Gaston Center

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is offering a boating safety education class Saturday from nine to five at the James A. Gaston Visitor Center in Bull Shoals. The course is free and open to everyone, but it’s mandatory for anyone born after December 31st, 1985, to operate a motorboat.

The course is designed to teach the fundamentals of safe boating necessary to reduce the loss of life, personal injury and property damage while increasing the boating enjoyment for outdoor enthusiasts. The class is six hours and includes boat classification, registration, life-saving equipment, navigation aids, rules of the road, maintenance, courtesy and more. All sessions must be attended to complete the course.
