Rashel Katrina Farnam of rural Mountain Home has now been charged with two counts of second degree forgery in addition to being accused of stealing jewelry and other items with an estimated value of up to $50,000 from the home of relatives along Buzzard Roost Road. She entered a not guilty plea to the new charge during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

The forgery charges stem from allegations that Farnam made alterations to the title of a 2001 Ford pickup truck to make it appear that the vehicle had been sold to her. Among the discrepancies noted on the bill of sale was the misspelling of the previous owner’s name in two places.

Investigators were also provided a photo of what is described as the correct bill of sale that does not match the document located in Farnam’s belongings at the Baxter County jail showing the truck was sold to her.

The existing charges against the 30-year-old Farnam stemmed from an alleged residential break-in late last month.

According to the probable cause affidavit in that case, the victims arrived home and discovered numerous items missing from the house, including firearms, an antique guitar, laptop computer and a large quantity of jewelry.

Entrance to the residence was made through a sliding glass door at the rear of the home, according to a news release from Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery.

Farnam was developed as a suspect and brought in for questioning. She was reported to have become irate, was uncooperative. At one point, she was alleged to have threatened the lives of the victims.

The victims filed for orders of protection naming Farnam as the respondent on June 29th.

Farnam has also entered a not guilty plea to the charges against her in the earlier case involving the break-in at the relatives’ home.

Bond for both cases was set at $10,000. There are a number of conditions placed on Farnam if she makes bond, including having no contact with the victims and not possessing or using drugs or alcohol.

She was ordered to reappear in court on both cases October 19th.
