Eastern Division takes center stage at SEC Conference

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) – The Southeastern Conference’s Eastern Division will take center stage next at the league’s media gathering. Florida, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State are the four teams making the trek to SEC media days. The Gators are looking for their third-straight Eastern division crown.

Southeastern Conference Commissioner Greg Sankey opened football media days with a history lesson on the timeline of integration in sports within the league. Sankey spoke at length in his opening remarks about the upcoming 50th anniversary of Nate Northington’s Sept. 30, 1967 debut for Kentucky against Mississippi.
He listed the first black varsity athlete for each current member.
