Final summer programs for Fred Berry Conservation Center coming up

The Fred Berry Conservation Center on Crooked Creek, located at 851 Conservation Lane in Yellville, will have the last of their summer programs taking place over the next couple of weeks. Target Tuesdays will be this Tuesday and Tuesday, July 25th. Fishing Fridays will be this Friday and Friday, July 28th and Wild Wednesdays will be this Wednesday and Wednesday, July 26th. All summer programs take place for two hours from 9:00 in the morning until 11:00.The Wild Wednesday program this week will feature backyard birds. The final Wild Wednesday will be all about alligators. In the series children are treated to different topics about wildlife and the presentation usually includes a presentation, craft or other engaging activity. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult for the alligator discussion as a wild one is expected to be present.

Target Tuesdays are for children six and older, who must be accompanied by an adult. They will practice archery , BB gun skills and occasionally hatchet throwing. Equipment is supplied and instruction on safety and technique will be included.

Fishing Fridays for children entail going to the catfish pond to try their luck. Children must be accompanied by an adult for fishing as well. Personal fishing equipment and bait may be brought or kids can use the center’s.
