The City of Norfork will have a new mayor effective August 1 with the resignation of Mayor Jim Reeves. The council, in its meeting Tuesday, evening selected one of its own, Lisa Harrison, to fill the pending vacancy. Mayor Reeves had indicated his intentions to step down from the position he has held for over 10 years citing health reasons.A spokesperson for Norfork City Hall says selecting a replacement for Mayor Reeves was discussed in the council’s July 11 workshop, opening the process to both interested council members and the public. One member of the public had expressed an interest in filling the role if no one from the council indicated an interest.
Harrison’s selection to fill the role of Norfork mayor now places the council in the situation of filling her soon to be vacant position one, ward two seat.
