
A Marion County man accused of stealing a car from a Mountain Home residence was returned to Baxter County on Thursday after being held by Ozark County authorities. According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office website, 26-year-old Milam Sweet of Summit was booked into the detention center on charges of felony theft of property, residential burglary and failure to appear, and he also has a hold for other agencies. Sweet’s bond is set at $30,000.
The alleged victim reported to the sheriff’s office the theft of her car from her residence on Stonegate Drive Sunday evening. She went into her residence and left the garage door open. Whe she went to close the garage nearly two hours later, she discovered her vehicle was missing with her purse inside the vehicle. Later that evening, the victim reported one of her credit cards was used at a Gainesville convenience store.
The Ozark County Sheriff’s Department notified Baxter County authorities early Monday morning they located the vehicle and took Sweet into custody on a $6,000 cash-only bond.
The report notes sweet has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on other occasions.
