Attorney General’s mobile office and drug take back event is Tuesday

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge’s office will hold a mobile office and prescription drug take back event Tuesday from 10:00 in the morning until 11:30 at the Van Matre Activity and Wellness center located at 1101 Spring Street in Mountain Home.The drop-off is completely anonymous and no questions will be asked. For increased privacy, medications may be returned in any container. Liquid medicines should be in a glass or leak-proof container. All unwanted prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins or other nutritional supplements will be accepted.

Staff members from the Attorney General’s Mobile Office will also be on hand to assist with consumer-related issues in filing complaints and providing information about scams, identity theft, fraud and other ways consumers can protect themselves.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office will pick up the drugs after the event. He reminds the public there is also has a secure drop box at 208 West 8th Street in Mountain Home that is accessible at all times. This lock box is under 24-hour video surveillance for security purposes. All pharmaceuticals collected will be destroyed later in the department’s drug incinerator equipment.

A secure drop box for the disposal of unwanted drugs is also available in the lobby of the Mountain Home Police Department Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
