Thursday afternoon 33-year-old Mary Jackson of Mountain Home failed to make an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court regarding her July arrest on drug charges and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Authorities didn’t have long to search for Jackson. She was minutes away from being booked into the county jail again on new charges of residential burglary and theft of property.
Jackson and 36-year-old James Waylon Davis of Mountain Home were booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on the same felony offenses.
Lakeview Police Chief David Hotchkiss says the charges stem from an incident reported to his department Monday. The pair had been hired to work outside a Lakeview residence. When the homeowner left them, the two are alleged to have entered his home, taken items valued at more than $13,000, as well as his vehicle. Items taken included cash, a large screen television, and numerous tools.
Chief Hotchkiss says on Wednesday the stolen vehicle was located at the back of the Midway Oaks Trailer Park. The vehicle had sustained damages when its battery cables were cut and the battery removed.
The Lakeview Police Chief says as both the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and the Mountain Home Police Department were advised to be on the lookout for Jackson and Davis, the homeowner contacted law enforcement after he saw the pair in another vehicle in Midway.
Hotchkiss says Jackson and Davis were taken into custody a short time later, with their bonds set at $50,000 each. The police chief says about 80 percent of the stolen items have been recovered.
