(AP) – Arkansas’ attorney general has reached a settlement
with an Arkansas funeral home where bodies were found stacked on top of each
other in unrefrigerated areas. The agreement announced Tuesday by Attorney General Leslie Rutledge will
prohibit the home’s former owners from operating in the funeral care business.

Rutledge said she reached the settlement with Arkansas Funeral Care, which was
shut down after regulators found multiple violations. Rutledge sued the funeral
home and its owners in Pulaski County Circuit Court last year.

Under the settlement, Arkansas Funeral Care will provide restitution to
customers who received services between Aug. 1, 2014 and Jan. 31, 2015 who have
not yet been compensated. It also prohibits the former owners from personally,
or as any business entity, operating in the funeral care business in Arkansas.
