Arkansans step outside to watch solar eclipse

(AP) – Sky-watchers in Little Rock, Arkansas, joined the millions of Americans Monday who caught a glimpse of the solar eclipse as it moved across the country. The Museum of Discovery and some Central Arkansas Library branches became gathering spots for those wanting to witness the first total solar eclipse to sweep the U.S. in nearly a century.

People throughout the city stepped out of their offices wearing special solar eclipse glasses and stood on sidewalks to catch a glimpse of the event, while some schools took students outside classrooms so they could watch the sky.

Little Rock School District students weren’t so lucky – their viewing was
canceled after their glasses were recalled because the vendor couldn’t verify the authenticity of their safety certification.
