Brenda Barnes of Mountain Home pled no contest to marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and was sentenced to four years probation.
The charges against Barnes, who seemed to be confused by the entire process, had been reduced since her initial arrest.
The 56-year-old Barnes was arrested along with several others at a residence along Cochran Drive in mid-January. According to the probable cause affidavit, Barnes initially refused to open the door of the residence when officers arrived and the officers observed others inside the residence attempting to disperse and hide.
When officers gained entry to the residence, Barnes is alleged to have claimed that she and a 16-year-year-old juvenile were the only ones present at the residence.
However, three other people were eventually found hiding in an attached garage adjoining the residence.
A number of drugs were uncovered during a search of the residence – including methamphetamine, marijuana, as well as loaded and used syringes, multiple sets of digital scales and other items of drug paraphernalia.
