Volunteers are needed to help keep Lake Norfork beautiful this weekend. The 39th-annual Lake Norfork Cleanup, organized by Jordan Marina and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Jordan Campground pavilion.
The day begins with registration until 9:00. Participants will be provided with gloves, trash bags, vests and meal tickets. A cookout at the pavilion begins at noon, and the giveaway of door prizes will follow before more trash is picked up during the remainder of the day.
This event is in conjuncton with the Great Arkansas Cleanup, the annual fall statewide litter pickup campaign promoted by Keep Arkansas Beautiful. Devin Rodgers of Jordan Marina says the importance of keeping the lakes clean could not be more vital.

The Great Arkansas Cleanup began over 40 years ago as the Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River Cleanup. In 1985, then-U.S. Senator Dale Bumpers guided legislation requiring an annual pickup event during the weekend after Labor Day on all federal lands. Local coordinating partners for this year’s event include Bull Shoals-White River State Park, the Buck Creek area of Bull Shoals Lake, Mammoth Spring State Park, and the Mountain Home Project Office of the Corps of Engineers.
