(AP) – A former county employee in southwest Missouri has been
charged with stealing and forgery.The Springfield News-Leader reports that former Christian County worker Kim Baxter has been charged with one count of stealing, one count of receiving stolen property and 28 counts of forgery.

County official Todd Wiesehan says the 42-year-old worked for the building
inspection department for nine years. She was terminated in June, when the
department merged with another to become resource management.
Wiesehan, director of resource management, says he’s reviewed cash handling policies because of the case.
Baxter was indicted by a grand jury in August. Court records allege the crimes occurred between September 2014 and April 2017, though it’s unclear how much she’s accused of stealing.
Baxter’s attorney declined to comment to The Associated Press.
