Kelly Hancock of Flippin pled guilty to charges in three cases from two counties and was sentenced to five years in prison during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday. His plea included two cases from Marion County and one from Baxter. The charges are mainly centered on his sometimes violent actions toward an ex-girlfriend and those associated with her.

The 38-year-old Hancock was charged with first-degree stalking, possession of a firearm by a felon, terroristic threatening, criminal use of a prohibited weapon and possession of methamphetamine.

The affidavits in the various cases outline Hancock’s encounters with his ex-girlfriend. At one point, Hancock was reported to have broken into the backdoor of the woman’s residence. A dispatcher informed deputies that the victim and a child could be heard screaming and that Hancock was allegedly heard screaming at the victim.

Hancock has made various threats against his ex-girlfriend.

In addition, Hancock was charged with detonating what are described as “sparkler bombs” at the residence of a man he suspected was seeing the ex-girlfriend. The devices were set off in the early morning hours of July 1. The “bombs” consisted of several packages of fireworks sparklers wrapped tightly in black electricians tape with shrapnel — including rounds of live ammunition, pieces of metal and spark plugs — contained in the package.

The ex-girlfriend took out an order of protection against Hancock in mid-January in which she details some of the alleged threats Hancock made toward her and family members as well. She asked that Hancock be kept away from her property.

The Baxter County case involved drug-related charges filed against Hancock in February. Baxter County deputies stopped a vehicle on U.S. 62B in which Hancock was a passenger for various traffic infractions.

During the stop, a plastic bag containing about 3.2 ounces of suspected methamphetamine was found
in Hancock’s right pocket, and he was also found to be in possession of a set of brass knuckles.
