Woman dead, officer injured in Arkansas apartment fire

(AP) – Police say a woman has died and an officer was
injured in an apartment fire in North Little Rock.

Police say firefighters were called Saturday morning and found the woman after forcing their way into the apartment.

Police say the woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

A police officer who responded to the fire was treated for smoke inhalation.

The officer’s name and condition were not released, but police say the injuries are not life-threatening.

A suspected cause of the fire is still under investigation.
