LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP)   Court records show that a toddler fatally shot in Little Rock was riding in a vehicle that was hit by gunfire the night before.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that case files show 2-year-old Ramiya Reed’s death in November appears to be the result of a dispute between members of rival gangs.

Two suspects were arrested in May, after the child’s mother told investigators the pair had guns and were in the vehicle from which the fatal shot was fired. Court documents say she initially didn’t provide a description of the suspects because she feared they’d hurt her or her family.

A family member also told police her car had been shot at the night before Ramiya’s death.

The jailed suspects are 21-year-old Deshaun Malik Rushing and a 17-year-old boy.
