The Superintendent of Mountain Home Public Schools, Dr. Jake Long, will host a Walk-In Wednesday event Wednesday from 8:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon at the district’s administration building. According to Long, he will be available throughout the day to visit
with stakeholders to discuss the district’s plan for Alternate Methods of Instruction (AMI) days.

Long and other members of the MHPS administration and faculty have been working on a plan to provide curricular options to students on days school is cancelled for inclement weather, illness, etc. Instead of losing a day of instruction when school is cancelled, the AMI day would allow students to get credit for school attendance while working on pre-created lessons from home.

The AMI day application is due to the Arkansas Department of Education on October 1, and Long says he would appreciate input from district employees, parents, and community members. He says this is new territory for the district, and appreciates feedback from different perspectives.

Additional Walk-In-Wednesdays will be held quarterly this school year.

The district’s administration building is located at 2465 Rodeo Drive. For more information about Walk-In Wednesday, call 425-1201.
