Baxter County woman incarcerated 13th time

A Baxter County woman, 52-year-old Rebecca Martin, has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center for the 13th time since 1999 after she was arrested Wednesday on felony drug charges. Martin was currently out on bond awaiting trial on a previous drug arrest from March, 2017.Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says a joint investigation by local law enforcement agencies led to Martin’s arrest when officers served a search warrant at her residence along County Road 30.Sheriff Montgomery says Martin is alleged to have sold methamphetamine twice in May to an informant working with investigators. On May 5, she sold approximately 26.2 grams of methamphetamine, and on May 26 she sold approximately .5 gram of methamphetamine. Each of these transactions was monitored and recorded by investigators. A cellular telephone was used to facilitate the transactions, and the first one took place within 1,000 feet of the office where Drug Court is conducted.

During the service of the search warrant Wednesday, investigators found and seized various articles of drug paraphernalia associated with the sale of methamphetamine.

Martin is facing two counts of delivery of methamphetamine, two counts of unlawful use of a communications device, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, all felony offenses, as well as penalty enhancements of proximity to certain facilities and habitual offender

Bond for Martin was set at $25,000 on the new charges, and she is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court in October to answer these charges.

Agencies involved in the investigation, service of the search warrant, and the arrest of Martin in addition to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office were the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Mountain Home Police Department, and the Arkansas State Police.
