
The month of September saw a well below average amount of rainfall this year, reported as the second driest September on record. Total rainfall for the month was recorded at .17 of an inch at KTLO, Classic Hits 101.7 and The Boot, the official weather reporting station in Mountain Home for the National Weather Service. The driest September month on record was in the year 2004, when just .03 of an inch of rainfall was recorded.The normal average amount of rainfall for September is 4.33 inches. The wettest on record was in 1996 when 11.41 inches fell.
The Twin Lakes Area last month saw just 3 days of precipitation with the 13th having the most at .10 of an inch.
The latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor, published September 26th, shows the entire Twin Lakes Area, to have abnormally dry conditions.
Tabitha Clark, Meteorologist from the National Weather Service in North Little Rock says they are monitoring the situation.

September didn’t set any temperature records as temperature highs, measured in the past, range from the 97 degree range to 107 degrees. The warmest days last month were tied at 91 degrees occurring on the 4th, 5th, 22nd and the 24th. The hottest days ever recorded in September occurred on the 6th in 1925, on the 7th; also in 1925; and the 8th in 1939 when temperatures reached 107 degrees.
The lowest temperature of the month was 48 degrees, occurring on the 7th and 8th. The lowest temperature ever recorded for September is 32 degrees and happened three times on September the 27th of 1942, the 29th of 1967 and the 30th of the same year.
