Four area high school softball teams competed in district play Thursday.
The semifinals of the Class 2, District 1 Tournament were held in Hartville.
Gainesville watched its season come to an end as they fell to Mansfield 11-0. The Lady Bulldogs’ final record for 2017 is 5-18.
Ava will be the Lady Lions’ opponent in the championship game after beating up on Houston 16-2. The Lady Bears improve to 13-7 on the year.
West Plains advanced to the title game of the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Logan-Rogersville High School. The top-seeded Lady Zizzers defeated Reeds Spring by a final of 9-1. West Plains is now 24-4 on the season.
Branson was eliminated from the Class 4, District 11 Tournament at Parkview High School in Springfield. The Lady Pirates fell to top-seeded Springfield Kickapoo 7-2. Branson ends the year at 16-15.
