The Mountain Home High School girl’s tennis team finished second at the Class 6A State Tournament and the Lady Bombers had the individual champion. The two-day tournament wrapped up at Burns Park at North Little Rock Tuesday.
Emily Heidi won her second straight state title by defeating a player from Benton in the semifinals and topping Olivia Gaston of Greenwood in the championship match 6-2, 6-3. Heidi advances to the Overall Tennis Tournament next week at Burns Park which features the top two finishers from each classification.
The doubles team of Sydney Czanstkowski and Meagan Beck finished third after falling to a team from Jonesboro in the semifinals then winning their third place match.
The Mountain Home girls finished second, three points behind Jonesboro.
On the boy’s side, Jonesboro won the state championship. Mountain Home finished tied for fifth.
