Baxter County was one of two county fair associations selected for funding through the Rural Services County Fair Program for Fiscal Year 2018. The grant awards were distributed October 10th at an awards ceremony held in the Governors Conference Room at the Arkansas State Capitol.
Baxter County Fair received $3,260 for the installation of a sewer and water line to serve a new concession, an existing concession and carnival office.
The Division of Rural Services works in partnership with the Arkansas Rural Development Commission to select the Rural Services County Fair Building Grant recipients. The County Fair Building Grant Program is designed to assist rural county fairs with the construction and improvement of buildings through incentive grants on a matching basis. County fair organizations wishing to apply for a grant under the County Fair Building Grant Program are required to apply through their county judges office.
Governor Asa Hutchinson, Arkansas Economic Development Commission Executive Director Mike Preston, AEDC Executive Vice President of Operations Amy Fecher and Rural Services Director Alex Johnston presented the funds.
