Four area high school athletes were in North Little Rock Monday for the opening day of the Overall State Tennis Tournament at Burns Park.
Mountain Home had three of its tennis players in the girls’ divisions. After a first round bye in the singles bracket, Emily Heide was a straight set victor in the quarterfinals as she topped Vanessa Salinas 6-3 and 6-4. Sydney Czanstkowski and Meagan Beck won its first match in the doubles bracket as they beat Maddison Jones and Shelby Belin of Hampton in straight sets by scores of 7-5 and 6-3, but they later fell in the quarterfinals as Avery Hargrove and Sarah Sncheringer of Bentonville West had a straight set win of 6-2 and 6-1.
The other area athlete represented Valley Springs in the boys’ singles bracket. Jonathan Hargrave was bounced in straight sets as Seth Hernandez of Baptist Prep had victories of 6-0 and 6-0.
