A man who was in the news in August for burglarizing a home when the owner was hospitalized, was one of two Mountain Home residents arrested Tuesday on drug offenses.
Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel says officers from his department served a search warrant at an apartment on Hillcrest Road in Mountain Home, taking 28-year-old Christopher Scott Smith and 34-year-old Casey Joel Cherry into custody. During the search, officers found a quantity of methamphetamine and items used for the ingestion of methamphetamine.
Both Smith and Cherry have been charged with felony counts of possession of drug paraphernalia for use of ingesting narcotics.
In addition, Smith has been charged with two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, two counts of proximity to certain facilities and one count of unlawful use of a communication device. His bond was set at $25,000.
Cherry has also been charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest. Her bond was set at $5,000.
Both were transported to the Baxter County Detention Center.
Smith was charged with felony theft of property in August when a Mountain Home man returned from his hospitalization to find items missing from his home. The arrest affidavit noted the missing items included three firearms, a generator, battery charger, and other assorted tools and ammunition.
After a number of items fitting the description of the stolen ones was located at a local pawn shop, officers questioned Smith who denied taking the property and consented to a search of his residence. Officers located a battery charger fitting the description of the missing item, as well as a box of ammunition matching the calibers of the stolen firearms.
Smith advised officers the battery charger belonged to his wife and the ammunition was in the home when they moved there. Smith’s wife said she did not know where the items came from.
Court records indicate the theft case remains open.
