
The Mountain Home High School volleyball team won its opener in the Class 6A State Tournament Tuesday at Greenwood. The match needed four sets as the Lady Bombers topped Sheridan 25-8, 22-25, 25-11 and 25-23. Charlie Pierce led Mountain Home with 17 kills, Maly Tabor added 15 kills, Claudia Carter recorded 12 kills and eight blocks, Leah Jackson dished out 47 assists, Elaine Blackmon had 14 digs and three aces, and Hannah Pfeifer finished with ten digs. The Lady Bombers improve to 20-8 on the season.
Three area schools were in Hoxie for the second round of the Class 3A State Tournament.
Yellville-Summit watched its season come to an end. The Lady Panthers fell in straight sets as the host Lady Mustangs posted scores of 25-9, 25-12 and 25-6.
After losing its first two sets, Bergman was able to come back and win the next three. Lavaca began the match with wins of 25-23 and 25-16, but the Lady Panthers took the remainder of the match 25-21, 25-18 and 16-14.
Valley Springs was eliminated in straight sets. The Lady Tigers fell to St. Joseph 25-13, 25-22 and 25-13.
Harrison began hosting the Class 5A State Tournament. The Lady Goblins won its opener in straight sets after beating Hot Springs 25-10, 25-5 and 25-7.
