
Mammoth Spring was able to sweep a pair of high school basketball games at home Friday against Sloan-Hendrix.
The Bears edged out the Greyhounds in the boys’ game by a final of 51-49. Sagen Godwin led Mammoth Spring with 36 points and ten rebounds. The Bears improve to 2-1 on the season.
Mammoth Spring dominated the girls’ contest with a 70-49 victory over Sloan-Hendrix. The Lady Bears were led by Brianna Hocum with 22 points and ten rebounds, and Stephine Henry added 12 points. Mammoth Spring remains undefeated in three games on the year.
Izard County split a pair of games with eStem at Brockwell.
The Cougars squeaked by the Mets in the boys’ game with a 59-56 decision. Justus Cooper paced Izard County with 23 points and 15 rebounds, and Caleb Faulkner scored 23 points. The Cougars improve to 5-0 on the season.
Izard County did not fare as well in the girls’ game as they fell to eStem 56-36. Sam King was the Lady Cougars’ leading scorer with 12 points, and Harley Thomason chipped in 12. Izard County’s record drops to 4-2.
