
In high school basketball Monday night, Izard County swept Bradford at home.
The Izard County boys improved to 6-0 with a 63-41 victory. Justus Cooper led the way with 20 points.
The Lady Cougars were 61-30 winners. Abby Brashear topped the scoresheet with 21 points, Harley Thompson added 12 points and nine rebounds and Laney Rider had 11 points. The Izard County girls are 5-2.
Izard County topped Bradford in the junior boy’s game 47-36. Coby Everett netted 17 points and Chase Orf had 14 as the Junior Cougars run their record to 5-0.
The Mammoth Spring high school teams both got wins over Hillcrest on the road.
It was a record setting night for Mammoth Spring junior Whitlee Layne as her Lady Bears were 66-39 winners. Layne scored 16 points putting her over 2,000 career points. Stephanie Henry had 22 points for Mammoth Spring as they improve to 5-0.
In the boy’s game, Mammoth Spring edged past Hillcrest 63-58 in overtime. Sagen Godwin had a big night with 36 points and 12 rebounds as the Bears move their record to 3-2.
