The Norfork School District was recently awarded a grant for Red Ribbon Week. The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office applied for and was awarded $1,793.25 for the district from the Arkansas Sheriff’s Association.

Red Ribbon Week is the United States’ oldest and largest drug prevention program. The campaign was designed to help children make a personal commitment to live drug free lives. It started in 1985 when DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena died at the hands of drug traffickers while undercover in Mexico fighting the battle against illegal drugs.

This year’s Red Ribbon Week started October 23rd and concludes Tuesday.
