Several people were put on probation in unrelated cases during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.
David Flowers of Mountain Home pled guilty to drug-related charges against him and was given 10 years probation.
The 32-year-old Flowers was arrested May 23rd last year after he was found in the residence of a parolee by officers from Arkansas Community Correction who had gone there to do a compliance check.
When officers entered the home, they found Flowers in a bedroom at the rear of the house. According to the probable cause affidavit, there were syringes and what was described as a methamphetamine processing station in his immediate vicinity.
Mountain Home attorney Justin Downum, who represents Flowers, told the court since the arrest, his client has successfully completed a year-long rehab program.
Wayne Robbins of Viola pled guilty to writing a number of bad checks in late 2016 and in January and February of this year.
The 39-year-old Robbins was sentenced to six years’ probation and ordered to pay about $4,700 in victim restitution.
Bryan Stromquist of Mountain Home pled guilty to drug-related charges and was put on probation for five years.
The 52-year-old Stromquist was arrested in late January after the Mountain Home Police Department received information that drugs were being sold and used at an apartment in a local complex. According to the probable cause affidavit, Stromquist and Patricia Hudnall occupied the apartment as a couple. Hudnall was a parolee at the time, and officers did a compliance visit to check out the information on drug usage and sales. They found both drugs and drug paraphernalia in the apartment.
John Shrum, Jr. of Gassville pled guilty to drug-related charges against him and was sentenced to four years’ probation.
According to the probable cause affidavit in his case, the 29-year-old Shrum was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by a Baxter County Deputy Sheriff May 25th on County Road 9.
The deputy said he pulled the vehicle over when it drifted off the roadway. After the vehicle was stopped, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found, and Shrum was arrested. The driver of the vehicle, which was registered to Shrum, was not charged since Shrum admitted ownership of the illegal items.
